Adam—Director of Operations
Adam has a degree in operations management from Kansas State University. He currently manages 3 clinics, Ridgeview Animal Hospital in Omaha, Walnut Creek Veterinary Clinic in Papillion, and our newest addition to the veterinary family, Skyline Veterinary Clinic in Elkhorn. He is married to Joanne, who is the owner of Ridgeview Animal Hospital in Omaha. They have five children: Jack, Lucy, Vivien, Jay, and Eddie. Their family pets are a cat, Mellie, and a Border Collie/Shepherd mix named Tex who was rescued from a shelter in Dallas, and Angus the cattle dog, adopted from Heartland German Shepherd Rescue. Since managing 3 busy clinics isn’t enough, Adam and Joey are foster parents and Adam is founder and volunteer coordinator for Truck Brigade. Truck Brigade serves former foster youth by delivering furniture to their new homes.
Shannon is a licensed veterinary technician who graduated from NCTA and has been with us since 2001. Her technical skills are incredible! She is knowledgeable and friendly. Shannon transitioned into the administrative role in our practice in 2012. Dr. Gaines and Shannon worked together prior to opening Walnut Creek. She has a dachshund named Stella, and her and her husband, Jay, have three sons, Gavin, Malik, and Braden. Shannon is the practice administrator for Ridgeview Animal Hospital, Walnut Creek Veterinary Clinic, and Skyline Veterinary Clinic.
Lauren – Clinic Manager
Lauren grew up on a farm outside of a small town in Nebraska. She attributed her love for animals and work ethic to her upbringing. She has loved animals for as long as she can remember and could not imagine doing anything different in life than loving and taking care of them. Lauren graduated from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in 2004 where she received a Veterinary Technician degree and took the national board exam to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician. Lauren loves music and going to concerts! When she’s not at the clinic you might find Lauren reading, spending as much time as possible with her family or visiting the farm where she grew up as a child. Lauren shares her life with a cat named Dempsey as well as a rescue dog named Quinn.
Melissa—Licensed Veterinary Technician
Melissa Peterson is a Fremont native and obtained her Associate of Applied Science Degree from Vatterott College in 2009. She completed her externship at Ridgeview Animal Hospital and joined our sister clinic, Walnut Creek, as a licensed technician in March of 2010 then transitioning to Skyline Veterinary Clinic in January of 2016 as the Clinic Manager and is now a Flex Technician/Administrative Assistant for all 3 sister clinics . In addition to being a tech, Melissa enjoys football, fishing, music, softball and being outdoors. She currently resides in Omaha with her husband Grant, their son Waylon and their fuzzy kids Daphne, Janis, Roxie, and Kitler.
Mindy – Licensed Veterinary Technician
Mindy is from a small town in Iowa. She has spent most of her career working in the Phoenix area but returned home about five years ago. She has experience working with small animals, exotics, and large animals. She has always enjoyed working with animals and it has been a passion of hers since she was young.
Taylar—Licensed Veterinary Technician
Taylar joined our team in April of 2019. She’s from Naperville, a suburb of Chicago, and she moved to Elkhorn in August of 2005. She ended up at Skyline when she needed a change and she drove past daily on her way home! Taylar graduated from Vatterott in 2013. She has always had a love for animals and realized she wanted to build a profession in vet medicine when she started volunteering at the humane society. She has a dog named Izzy that she adopted from the shelter one day before her max day there. Izzy is the princess of the house and she loves cuddling on her terms only! In Taylar’s free time she likes to take her niece and nephew out and spend time with her boyfriend outside fishing or spending time at the lake.
Alexis – Licensed Veterinary Technician
Alexis joined our team as an LVT in June of 2019 from Lincoln, Nebraska. Alexis grew up in the country north of Kearney, NE with many animals. She has known since she was 3 years old that she wanted to have a career in the Veterinary field. She graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture (NCTA) in 2014 with her Veterinary Technology degree. In her free time, she likes to be active in the great outdoors and go to movies. She has a mini dachshund, Scarlet, that lives with her in Omaha and 2 cats and 2 horses that live with her boyfriend in Kearney.
Taylor H. – Licensed Veterinary Technician
Taylor joined our team in October of 2019 as a Licensed Veterinary Technician. She was born in Falls City, NE. Growing up with animals all her life gave her a passion to one day work with them. She graduated from Southeast Community College with her Animal Science degree in 2013 and then continued onto Northeast Community College to get her Veterinary Technician degree. In her spare time, she likes to do crafts, read, and catch up on her TV shows. She has 3 cats Ellie, Zira, and Ravioli.
Anna – Licensed Veterinary Technician
Anna joined our team as a licensed Veterinary Technician in February of 2020. She grew up on a farm in Blair, Nebraska with a lot of animals and always wanted to be involved in their care and treatments. She graduated from Iowa Western with her Associates of Science in Veterinary Technology in May of 2018. In her spare time she likes to hang out with her 4 dogs (Bandit, Rue, Bo, and Daisy), two cats (Howard and Kitty), 3 horses (Haagen, Tucker, and Pixie), and her granny goat (Granny). Her and her husband, Colby, are expecting a baby girl in June of 2020.
Caitlin—Veterinary Technician Student
Caitlin is originally from Iowa and is currently working towards getting her veterinary technician degree through PennFoster. Caitlin, her husband, and their new baby boy William love spending time with their dogs Kincaid and Storm and their cat, Arabella. Caitlin and her husband also are active fosters with a local rescue, Hands Hearts, and Paws. Her hobbies include reading, fishing and spending time with family.
Kari – Veterinary Assistant
Kari joined our team in August of 2019 as a Veterinary Assistant. She was born and raised here in Omaha. She was looking for an enriching and fulfilling career that makes her day better by going to work and found our clinic after moving back home from Virginia Beach. She is currently enrolled in Penn Foster working towards obtaining her Veterinary Technology degree. In her spare time, she likes doing indoor rock climbing, listening to live music, and reading fiction and comics. She shares her life with a Shiba Inu named Roki.
Ali – Veterinary Assistant
Ali joined our team in January of 2020 as a Veterinary Assistant. Ali was born in Lakenheath, England and moved to the United States when she was 4 years old. She has had a lifelong passion for animals, science, and helping others which led her to a career in Veterinary Medicine. She has a bachelor’s degree in biology and is in the process of obtaining her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. She has two cats named Moose and Reggie and enjoys reading and spending time with her friends and family in her spare time.
Sarah – Client Care Specialist
Sarah joined our team June 2018 and She has been working with dogs as a foster home for rescue for over 10 years and decided recently to combine her career in customer service with her love of pets! She and her husband Brian moved from Kansas to the Omaha area in 2013 and their full house includes German Shepherds Moose and Inara, a Westie mix Logan, and various foster dogs through Heartland German Shepherd Rescue. In her free time, Sarah enjoys all things outdoors: camping, hiking, swimming, and cycling are favorites.
Violet – Client Care Specialist
Violet joined the team in 2018. She is our flex CCS, sharing her time between the three clinics. She was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, spending most of her life turning her house into a menagerie. Her current partner in crime is a goofy cattle dog mix named Sophie—the two of them wreak havoc by curling up on the sofa with a good book.
Amy – Client Care Specialist
Amy grew up in Columbus, NE and has a biology degree from the College of Saint Mary. She has always loved animals and interned at the Henry Doorly Zoo while she was in college working with the Lied Jungle animals. At this point she knew she wanted to work with animals in some capacity, which brought her here to Skyline Veterinary Clinic. Amy has a cat named Peter who likes to sit on the counter when she is getting ready in the morning and drink from the sink. In her free time Amy likes to spend time with family. She has a niece and two nephews that keep her busy and her two sisters are her best friends!
Carolyn – Client Care Specialist
Carolyn joined our team as a Client Care Specialist in September of 2019. She travels around to our sister clinics as well to help where needed. Carolyn was born in Baltimore, MD, but moved to Nebraska when she was in middle school. She has been an animal person her whole life and she loves helping people. She graduated from Hastings College in 2017 with her Wildlife Biology/Studio Art degree. In her free time, she likes to hike, watch movies, play video games, read and garden. She has a mini Aussie, Addie, and two cats Molly and Lil Bit.
Taylor – Client Care Specialist
Taylor joined our team in December 2019 as a Client Care Specialist. She is currently enrolled at Iowa Western pursing her Veterinary Technician Degree. She has wanted to be able to contribute and help animals in need ever since she was little. When she is not studying or working, she is trying new restaurants, at a book store, or boating. She has 3 rescue pups; Easton who is a 3.5 year old German Shepherd, Maggie who is a 3.5 year old mutt, and Wilmont, also known as Kitty, a 7 year old beagle.
Jerry – Facility Manager
Jerry Ravnsborg grew up on a Farm where you learn to do all kinds of things. He has a BS in Business Administration and owned a manufacturing company, where he later went into technical sales of industrial automation in a three-state area. As a retiree, he enjoys living on an acreage with his wife Carol of 51 years. Their Son is Dr. BJ Ravnsborg, located at the Walnut Creek Veterinary clinic. They have a Daughter Amy in KC who is an air traffic controller. Their family has 4 grandchildren, two boys, and two girls. He enjoys working with his hands and currently provides maintenance services for Ridgeview, Walnut Creek and Skyline Clinics.
